Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of items are swapped at a regular Swapping Event?
These events attract everything from designer wear to good quality basic garments from high street stores. Placed in different areas depending on style, a great little frock from M and Co can upstage a designer dress because the exchange rightfully places individual style and fit before branding.
Is it possible to swap my ugly Tracksuit bottoms for a Gucci dress?
Our screening process mediates the quality control of the garments exchanged so those tracksuit pants would not make the cut but our exchange would allow a good basic to be traded for a designer dress as the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Does your clothes swap attract a wide range of sizes?
Events like this attracts ladies of all shapes and sizes, but because those at the smaller end of the spectrum have the opportunity to wear things oversized, we will arrange clothes by colour rather than size to enable you to be inspired and focused, to make alterations as you please, without feeling you've missed out on a garment.
What happens if I don’t find anything that suits me - can I keep my credits for the next event?
The credits are only valid for the night of the exchange, so if you don’t find something to take in return, we suggest you grab some garments, to trade at the next event, simply enjoy the extra wardrobe space or take pleasure in knowing your old items went to a good home.
Are there clothes leftover and if so, where do they go?
The small amount of garments that are left over are donated to our chosen charity Cotswold Care Hospice, where they will have to decide on how to allocate them, to benefit the charity itself.
What do I do if I don’t have enough credits to ‘buy’ a particular item?
30 minutes after we have started the swap you will be allowed to ‘buy’ extra credits for £2 per credit. This money will go directly to Cheltenham Connect.
Who runs these swaps and what do they get out of it?
Originally, the Stroud Clothes Swap was the brain child of Nicky Price with the sole intention of brightening up a dull month and magnifying the ecological benefits to care for the earth, for love of fashion and for the fun of it, whilst raising money for a god cause. We are hoping to run events at a low cost that are inclusive rather than profitable, so that everyone interested can swap & shop!
Please note:
This is a Cheltenham Connect fundraising event and we can not refund tickets or credits for cash.
